Wooden I-joists - Nodal solutions - Floor in brick homes
Wooden i-joists are widely used in brick home construction
ON the reinforced screed put waterproofing material. A strapping board should be placed on the material and attached to the reinforced screed, using anchor bolts, through the waterproofing material. The i-joists are installed on top of the strapping board and fixed with screws or nails. This scheme is used if the second floor of the house is built using stick-built technology. |

I-joists are wrapped with waterproofing material and then installed through the grooves in the walls. There are two ways of installing i-joists. It depends on the thickness of the walls. If the wall is less than 8 in thick, then the i-joists should overlap each other. if the wall thickness is more than 8 in, then the i-joists join inside the wall end to end. |
|
If i-joist cannot be installed on the top of the brick wall then brackets (i-joist support) should be used. In this case, the i-joists are installed on the i-joist support, which in turn is mounted to the wall using anchor bolts. |

Istallation of I-joists on outer walls. The i-joists should be soundproofed with the appropriate material. The first i-joist should be installed along the wall very closely to that wall. |

In the case when it is necessary to install an i-joist outside the building (balcony, truss), and there are heavy loads on that part, the i-joists are reinforced with sheets of plywood or OSB |
